Chapter 2: Dreams of War and Wives

The saintess said she had to return due to curfew, so we parted ways.

She’s the cherished saintess of the Holy Kingdom.

In the original story, the Holy Kingdom’s people went into a frenzy over her.

After parting with the saintess, I returned to my dorm room.

Outside, it was already pitch dark.

The saintess dreamed of a past life?

She was an angel serving a god in that life?

I’ve never heard of such a thing.

Right after possessing this body, I meticulously wrote down every episode of this novel in a notebook.

Especially the details about the heroines who play key roles in the story—I recorded those with extra care.

There’s no way I’d mix up anything about the saintess, a major character.

Which means this change is entirely because of me…

But the saintess didn’t even know I existed.

Her dreaming about me makes no sense.

More than that, why does she believe that ridiculous dream is real?

“Ugh…”

Despite so many things going differently than expected, I achieved my initial goal of forming a connection with the saintess.

For someone like me, with meager abilities and only a baron’s title, this is an incredible network to have.

It’s fine.

I never thought everything would go perfectly according to plan.

Plans can be revised as we go.

I walked to my desk and pulled a small notebook from the drawer.

The notebook of a possessor, the first thing I created in this world.

It lists all the opportunities and hidden pieces that can be found or obtained in the academy.

Strange as it is, I’ve gained the saintess’s favor.

If I can persuade her, I can seize those opportunities.

On my own, it’d be impossible, but with her help, it’s within reach.

And if I steadily claim these opportunities, I’ll grow stronger, and someday…

The once-bleak future began to feel a bit brighter.

That is, until the creaky window of my shabby room opened.

“Huh?”

Someone, their body wrapped in a robe, was climbing through my window into my room.

What the h*ll is this?

An assassin?

For a lowly baron’s son like me?

Could it be someone secretly in love with the saintess, jealous of me?

This is too much.

Even if my plan relies on the original story’s knowledge, what kind of random variable is this?

The mysterious figure closed the window frame and entered my room.

I was paralyzed with fear, unable to do anything.

I’d trained in swordsmanship and magic, but both were garbage.

I had zero real combat experience.

There’s no way this powerless body could handle an assassin.

And this intruder? Aside from the initial creak, they made no sound at all while entering.

They must have some serious skill.

Far beyond someone like me.

This is unfair.

But am I just going to die like this?

I’ll at least speak up, if only out of spite.

“What kind of rudeness is this in the middle of the night!”

I shouted at the intruder to avoid seeming weak.

The figure, their face hidden under the robe, flinched as they stared at me.

“I am Bisus Granginol! Of the Granginol barony…!”

“Bisus!”

As I tried to keep talking, the intruder threw off the hood of their robe.

Glossy, flowing pink hair spilled out—far too soft to belong to an assassin.

The skin beneath was so fair it practically glowed.

And those delicate, perfectly arranged features…

Wait a second.

This face looks familiar.

“Sofia?”

The only daughter of the republic’s leader, a powerhouse vying for continental dominance against the empire.

Sofia di Lubelion.

No mistake about it.

She was another heroine I’d planned to get close to.

One of the three most prominent figures at the academy right now—why is she in my room?

“Bisus!”

“Argh!”

Sofia threw off her robe completely and rushed at me.
She hugged me so tightly I could barely breathe.

“W-Wait a second…”

What kind of strength is this!

“Oh? Sorry, Bisus!”

Realizing I was struggling to breathe, Sofia let go.

“Cough, cough…”

“I’m so sorry. I got too excited seeing you again, and knowing you remember me almost made me mess up again.”

Now free from her grip, I could finally take a good look at her.

She must’ve come straight from bed, she was in her underwear.

The sight of her bare skin made my head spin.

Her scent, so close, was almost unbearable.

“Ah!”

Noticing I couldn’t look at her properly, Sofia quickly grabbed her robe to cover herself.

Her face flushed slightly, showing she was embarrassed too.

“Ahem… Anyway, you. You remember me, right?”

With a reddened face, she asked me.

“Remember… you?”

I played the part of an ordinary baron’s son.

“Me! We fought monsters together! Went on adventures together! Faced the Demon King together, didn’t we?”

…What?

My mind froze at the absurdity of Sofia’s words.

What is she talking about?

Sofia never went on adventures before the story’s start, and there’s no Demon King in this novel.

Did she have some weird dream too?

“You… don’t remember?”

Seeing me stand there dumbfounded, Sofia asked in a pitiful voice.

Remember? I don’t even understand what’s happening right now.

“No way!”

“Wait, hold on…!”

Sofia rushed at me again.

I fell onto the bed, and she ended up on top of me.

“Do you truly not remember? The adventures we had together… the nights we spent comforting each other, crying after losing everything… the promise to defeat the Demon King, get married, and have kids…?”

Tears began to well in Sofia’s eyes as she looked down at me.

“…I see. Then to you, I’m just Sofia, the daughter of the republic’s leader.”

Her genuinely sad expression left me speechless.

“But I won’t give up on you.”

Sofia leaned down, wrapping her arms around me.

Her sweet scent filled my nose, and her warmth enveloped my body.

“To Sofia di Lubelion, you are the only rightful partner.”

Rustle

Sofia stood by the window, covering her face with her robe.

“Sorry for disturbing your sleep so late. I wasn’t in my right mind.”

She spoke calmly, but I could see her eyes, gazing at me longingly from beneath the robe.

“Let’s meet again at the academy, my love.”

Creak

Like the wind, she opened the window and vanished in an instant.

Her physical prowess was staggering, unbecoming of her lofty status.

I don’t know what’s going on, but I’ve somehow gained a connection with Sofia herself.

Her help will surely be a huge asset in the future.

But despite what she said… isn’t this just her acting crazy because of some random dream?

“Ehehe… To think I’d meet my lord husband again. How lucky am I?”

Saintess Artoria lay in bed, giggling to herself.

“This must be Deus’s grace. Even after I committed such a sin, He let me meet my lord husband again!”

Artoria closed her eyes to sleep but was too excited to drift off.

“Ugh, no way. I’ll just check if my lord husband is safe, then sleep!”

With impure thoughts of maybe catching Bisus bathing, Artoria secretly cast a holy magic spell to see faraway places.

“It’s to support my lord husband, so Deus will forgive me!”

Humm

A high-level holy magic, one even the Pope couldn’t use freely, unfolded.

With a proficiency Artoria couldn’t have managed before her dream.

“Let’s see… where’s my lord husband… huh?”

The scene of Bisus’s room came into view.

And there, Artoria saw it.

Some pink-haired b*tch daring to defile her lord husband.

Crack

The bedpost Artoria was gripping crumbled into dust.
